Dr Amundson is from Rockford Illinois originally, about 2 hours NW of Chicago. He comes from a medical background with his mother a Registered Nurse (still practicing at 86 years old!) and his father who was a Pharmacist and a sister who was a Dental Assistant. He did his undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University – Carbondale in Chemistry in a Predental program.
He studied at Southern Illinois University- School of Dental Medicine in the St Louis area and graduated in 1995 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (DMD). He returned to his hometown of Rockford to practice as an associate dentist for 18 months before relocating to Denver area to practice in Littleton Colorado in 1996. It was here in Denver that he met his beautiful wife Jane Marie, originally from Nebraska, in 1997. He practiced as an associate dentist until 1999 when he elected to start his first solo dental practice with Jane Marie as the office manager and just 2 other team members-one assistant and one hygienist. This practice became very successful in providing not only family/general dentistry but also began a concentration in cosmetic and full mouth reconstruction programs and the beginning of the use of CEREC Cad/Cam in-office dentistry. During this time his 2 daughters were born: Giada and Kai Mae. In the winter of 2011, the mountains and a desire to seek out a smaller community to raise his daughters, he and Jane Marie relocated to Montrose Colorado after selling his practice to a prosthodontist. It was there he partnered with an existing practice with another dentist and started to grown the practice in the beautiful western slope of Colorado very close to the San Juan Mountains and Telluride.
Dr Amundson eventually brought on other associate dentists and grew the practice to a 5 day a week with 3 full time dentists, 6 dental hygienists and 9 operatories. This was a very busy practice while providing individualized care and advanced dentistry with CEREC. Dr Amundson also started mentoring and training this system with CerecDoctors down in Scottsdale, AZ at the Scottsdale Center of Advanced Dental Studies and was also part of the Frank Spear Faculty Club. While his oldest daughter graduated from high school and elected to attend Oregon State University in a predental program and his other daughter is preparing her final semester of high school, Dr Amundson and Jane Marie once again elected to relocate to Bend Oregon. The mountains were once again calling and the opportunity to be closer to their daughter in Oregon and in a style of practice he desired as similar to his beginnings of a smaller team with focused individualize care.
The transition of the practice occurred in May 2025 and Dr Amundson looks forward to continuing the best care for Dr Wold’s patients and team after his retirement after 30 years of providing excellent dentistry in Bend Oregon.
Teresa is the welcoming face you will see when you enter our office! She has worked in the dental field since 2014 and graduated from Dental Assisting school in California. She has extensive experience working with insurance companies and filing claims, so if you have any questions she has an answer for you! Teresa enjoys being active and snowboarding at Mt. Bachelor. She is the mother of three kids and a dental front office superstar! She enjoys working with patients and providing excellent customer service.
